Visual research
Visual research involves gathering a wide range of visual elements and representations produced by / about OWS.
How to do visual research
One simple strategy involves the following process:
- Go to a camp
- Take pictures of as many tools, objects, practices within your domain of focus as possible
- Upload and annotate the pictures with description, analysis, historical precedents, etc.
- Wherever you upload them, be sure to tag them (with #OWS?)
Archive
- We need a gallery or centralized space to publish the visual archives, because media posted to commercial / social web is not persistent (it can be taken down at any moment for a number of reasons)
- For example, we might contact and coordinate with http://occupyarchive.org, although is not yet clear what kind of resources they have to build and maintain an effective and persistent archive
